Lot # 1230: 1940s George Burke Original Chicago Cubs Photographs (18)

These George Burke photos of the Chicago Cubs from the 1940s are the original rounded corner 8x10 glossy photos with the period stamp and the player’s name typewritten on the back. Though they present very nicely with no creases they have pinholes in each corner, and someone has written the subject’s name at the top of each photo. The condition averages GD to GD/VG.

Starting with their star slugger of the time, Stan Hack, they include Bill Lee, Bob Sturgeon, Paul Erickson, Lou Stringer, Charles Gilbert, Clyde McCullough, Dom Dallesandro, Pat Pressnell, Phil Cavarretta, Bill Nicholson, Vern Olsen, Augie Galan, Charlie Root, Charles Spalding, Vance Page, Jimmy Wilson (mgr.) and a 1941 Chicago Cubs team photo which shows many of the same players, possibly dating the other photos.
