Description

Comic book history was made during this run of (10) 1970-1971 Marvel Amazing Spider-Man comic books. Since the mid-1950s, the Comics Code Authority played a heavy hand in determining what was suitable to print for consumption by young comic readers. In his ultimate wisdom, Marvel head honcho Stan Lee flaunted the CCA, by publishing (3) 1971 Amazing Spider-Man issues dealing with the dangers of drug use, that did not bear the CCA stamp of approval. Lee did this at the request of the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare, as a public service. These historic comics sold well, forcing the CCA to change with the times, in allowing negative depictions of drugs, while also loosening the strings on other issues.

These game-changing Amazing Spider-Man drug issues showed Peter Parker's pal Harry Osborn hospitalized for an overdose, with: #96 (VG-FN), #97 (FN+), #98 (FN).

Balance are: #90 death of Captain Stacy (FN), #91 (FN), #92 (FN), #93 first Arthur Stacy (FN), #94 origin retold (VG), #95 (FN), #99 (VG-FN).
