Lot # 1688: Muhammad Ali and Wilt Chamberlain Dual-Signed 16x20 Photograph in Framed Display

Even though he stood 6’3”, legendary heavyweight champ Muhammad Ali is still dwarfed by the towering Wilt Chamberlain in this dual-signed photograph. Several times during the period 1965-1971, the famous subjects kicked around the idea of facing each other in the boxing ring. This scene with Ali deflecting a Chamberlain jab, took place in 1967, in a promotional appearance on ABC’s Wide World of Sports program. Each time a fight was considered, Chamberlain was talked out of it, and though the fight never happened, the showmanship of these legends made for great theater. This 16” x 20” photograph is framed to overall dimensions of 20” x 24”, and the mod style studio setting is pure 1960s. Both belligerents have signed on the background space between them for maximum contrast of their signatures, which are both (“8”) examples.
