The National League's best of 1958 are collected, with this 1958 NL All-Stars team-signed baseball. Sitting vice president Richard Nixon threw out the first pitch at Baltimore's cozy Memorial Stadium on July 8th, and it was all small ball on the field, in a 4-3 AL win, devoid of extra base hits. A total of (23) NL All-Stars, including (7) Hall of Famers, have signed the offered ball, which is a period correct OAL/Harridge model in (EX+) condition. The period signatures range ("6" to "9") in potency, and show off nicely against the ball's lightly toned surface.
Featured signers are:
Sweet spot: Fred Haney (manager), Stan Musial (clubhouse);
North panel: Johnny Logan, Bill Mazeroski (HOF), John Antonelli, Rich Ashburn (HOF), Johnny Podres;
South panel: Bob Skinner, Hank Aaron (HOF), Don Blasingame, Willie Mays (HOF), George Crowe, Frank Thomas;
East panel: Del Crandall, Lee Walls, Larry Jackson, Bob Purkey;
West panel: Dick Farrell, Eddie Mathews (HOF), Ernie Banks (HOF), Walt Moryn, Warren Spahn (HOF), Bob Friend, John Roseboro.
Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA.
