Lot # 1357: 1991 Babe Ruth Bronze Bust by J. Gregory

Bring the immortal Babe Ruth home to roost forever, with the acquisition of this fine art bronze bust, by J. Gregory. A realistic rendering of Ruth, this heavy metal creation is of considerable heft, and stands nearly 10” tall, on a black marble pedestal with a 4” diameter across the base. The artist’s name, a copyright symbol, and the date 1991, are impressed in the bronze on the underside of the left shoulder. A review of the few other examples of this handsome icon we discovered, indicate the one offered here is unique, attributable to the cap being painted in Yankees blue, with white logo letters. This durable head and shoulders statue is resistant to wear, with minimal signs of attrition, such as paint rub along the edge of the cap, and very slight traces of patina around the collar.
