Description

Redemption came to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl V, in a turnover-prone win over the Dallas Cowboys. The Colts big win is perfectly commemorated with this vintage 1971 Super Bowl V Lombardi Trophy replica. Heavily favored in Super Bowl III, the Colts took it on the chin, when flamboyant New York Jets quarterback Joe Namath made good on his victory guarantee, so Super Bowl V was sorely needed by the Colts aging veterans, to get the bad taste out of their mouths.

Standing 18” tall on an equilateral 8-1/2” triangle base, this hefty trophy is a gleaming prize, adorned on the front with the NFL Shield logo. Engraving above the Shield reads “Vince Lombardi Trophy”, and engraving below reads “AFC vs NFC, Super Bowl V, Baltimore 16, Dallas 13”. A title plate on the front of the base is engraved with the legend “Superbowl V January 17, 1971 Orange Bowl-Miami, World Champion Baltimore Colts”. Wear is light, with a couple of surface pits on the metal upright, and a few small nicks on the lacquered base. Weighing in at 10 pounds, this heavyweight trophy is a superior vintage example, that is more desirable than less expensive modern versions.
