Description

A famous baseball war cry sounds from the distant past, with this 1907-1920 Hughie Jennings "EE-YAH!!" pin. A hard-nosed player, and a cunning manager, Jennings was renowned for his on-field antics from the third base coach's box. While serving as manager for the Detroit Tigers from 1907-1920, his trademark shouts of Ee-Yah delighted the hometown crowd, as did his whoops, whistles and gyrations. This 2-1/4" diameter pin likely saw its fair share of gameday action from the grandstands at Bennett Park, and/or Navin Field. Formatted as a baseball with "EE-YAH!!" lettered in red on the sweet spot, this ancient pin shows moderate oxidation on the back, while the front remains very pleasing in (EX) condition, with great graphics integrity. While Jennings racked up a highly respectable record of 1,184-995 as a manager, it was his determined play and .311 lifetime batting average, that earned him a posthumous spot in the Hall of Fame in 1945.
