No, the term "baseball genius" is not an oxymoron, and support of this statement is submitted, with this 1930 John McGraw original Type I news service photograph. During his three decades at the helm of the New York Giants, "Mugsy" guided the franchise to ten NL pennants, and three World Series championships. His career record of 2,763-1,948 is fantastic, ranking him among the game's very best managers.
Measuring 6x8, this vintage Type I photograph depicts McGraw in uniform for the Giants, near the end of his hard-fought career. A reverse side stamp credits International News Reel, and an affixed text blurb is dated 4/12/30. The text details a barnstorming tour, with McGraw's Giants facing the Chicago White Sox in a series of exhibition games. Condition is technically (GD) due to rippling along the bottom from moisture contact, though otherwise this photograph is fairly attractive, with a distinct image, and decent gloss, and it should frame up nicely.
