Description

Jim Piersall was an above average hitter, but he was known for his dazzling catches and throws from centerfield. His fielding percentage even surpassed that of DiMaggio and Mays. He is probably most famous for the movies made from his autobiography, “Fear Strikes Out.” He was played by Tab Hunter in the TV version and then by Anthony Perkins in the movie. The drama showed how he overcame a difficult childhood and mental problems to become a star player. He has signed these dozen balls, averaging creamy white, some with light toning, applying signatures averaging (“6 to 8”) and adding the inscription “Fear Strikes Out” to three of them. They include:

(8) OAL/Budig balls, (2) with “Fear Strikes Out” inscription.

(3) OML/Selig single-signed balls.   

(1) ONL/Coleman with “Fear Strikes Out” inscription.

All have JSA Stickers and accompanying Certs.
