Description

Original watercolor-on-board painting of Ray Schalk created by Dick Perez for the Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcard set. Signed by the artist in the lower left. This artwork is from the third series of Perez-Steele Hall of Fame postcards published in 1980. The Hall of Fame postcard set was the first Perez-Steele art card set ever produced and is universally recognized as the landmark Perez-Steele card issue. The design and style of the cards was inspired by the Allen & Ginter set of 1887. Publishing of the set began in 1980 and was then updated every few years, through 2001, to add new inductees. The artwork measures approximately 11.5 x 15.5 inches and has been matted and framed to total dimensions of 21 x 28 inches. Framed alongside the painting is a signed cut of Schalk, which reads "It is with pleasure I send to you my autograph. Sincerely, Ray Schalk." Near Mint condition overall. Full LOA from James Spence/JSA. The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
