Description

A fine artwork comes up for consideration, with the presentation of this original Perez-Steele Galleries Herb Pennock painting. Created by renowned sports artist Dick Perez, this masterful watercolor on board painting depicts the New York Yankees Hall of Fame ace pitcher in the pinstripes he wore from 1923-1933. Perez created this piece for the Perez-Steele Great Moments series, which was inspired by the 1911 T-3 Turkey Red cabinet cards. A worthy subject, Pennock won his first championship with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1913. He won another with the Boston Red Sox in 1915, and four more with the Yankees in 1923, 1927, 1928 and 1932. These were six of the greatest squads in baseball history, and Pennock was a key figure in the Yankees' earliest successes. Regarded as one of the very best artists to capture the spirit of the grand game of baseball, Dick Perez has produced a tremendous number of reverent works celebrating the game's most iconic legends. Perez has signed stylishly in gold at bottom-right of this gorgeous artwork. Housed in a stately frame measuring 20" x 26" overall, this impressive 14" x 18" painting is visible in a 12" x 18" triple-matted window, with a Yankees blue pinstripe accent sandwiched between white and cream boards. This fantastic painting presents as immaculate, and the frame shows minimal wear. The back is fitted with a hanging wire for immediate display. Grace your collection with this champion of long ago, rendered in fine art style.
