Get a glimpse of Joe DiMaggio's retirement activities, when you read this 1982 DiMaggio signed two-page handwritten letter. This letter was legibly written by DiMaggio on two 5" x 8" sheets of plain paper. It's really two short notes in one, both addressed to "Carl". Dated Sept. 3, 1982 at the top of the first page, the first passage mentions a mysterious "Cronin incident" and an acquaintance named "Eck". DiMaggio also mentions missing a golf tournament due to a "TV Bowery commitment, which is a priority", a reference to DiMaggio's commercial endorsements for the Bowery Savings Bank, and he stated "I'll be ready for next year". Two-thirds of the way day the first page, another passage is dated Nov. 1, 1982. In this portion of the correspondence, DiMaggio brings up "Getty is doing away with their gasoline credit cards, which you probably already know. Does that leave me "framing that pretty card?" I hope not!". The letter concludes on the second page with "Well be talking to you in regards to that and tournament within a week. - And will not call in the morning! Regards - Joe". DiMaggio's given name only signature remains distinct and the twice-folded pages are still fairly crisp and clean.
