Lot # 1610: 1974 Frank Skaff Game-Worn Baltimore Orioles 1954 20th Anniversary Ceremony Jersey & Pants - Phil Wood LOA

Baltimore baseball fans had great reason to rejoice in 1954, when the MLB brand of the game returned for the first time since the previous Orioles franchise disbanded after the 1902 season. Charm City faithful got to enjoy a blast from the past celebration in 1974, when 1954 coach Frank Skaff wore the offered uniform, styled after the 1954 O’s first season version, during the Orioles nostalgic 20th Anniversary ceremony. Featuring a reenactment of the home run Clint Cortney hit during the inaugural season home opener, this ceremony took place between games of a doubleheader in the Summer of 1974. As Skaff wore this top-quality uniform on just the one occasion and it has never been laundered, it remains in outstanding condition, though light soiling is noted on the back of both the pants and jersey. The jersey is labeled Brooks Robinson Sporting Goods inside the collar, with retro images of Robinson at bat and the Orioles 1950s Bird mascot merrily perched on a baseball. Stunning orange and black Orioles lettering is stitched across the front and equally attractive number 30 patches occupy the back. There is no size tag, but the size is estimated at 48 to 50. The only labeling seen on the pants, is a size 38 tag inside the waistband. Phil Wood LOA.
