The man who received his alliterative nickname from his tobacco use, George “Snuffy” Stirnweiss received this 12-inch commemorative tray at the 1956 Old Timers Day at Yankee Stadium. It reads “OLD TIMERS DAY – HONORING VETERAN WHITE SOX AND YANKEE STARS – YANKEE STADIUM - AUGUST 25, 1956.” The center is an engraving of Yankee Stadium etched into the sterling silver tray. Below the stadium, “GEORGE STIRNWEISS” is engraved. "Wallace, Sterling, 6616. 12 In." stamp visible on back. Varying degrees of tarnishing.
