Lot # 1341: Circa 1910s Piedmont Double Sided Porcelain Tobacco Sign

Tobacco specialists heed the buying signal emitted by this 1910s Piedmont tobacco advertising sign. This tobacco brand is well-known among veteran collectors, for issuing baseball tobacco cards in period packages. Sized at 11-1/2" x 11-1/2", this heavyweight metal sign is double-sided with the same layout on both sides of the porcelain enamel finish. Bright white lettering against a deep royal blue background reads "Smoke Piedmont "The Cigarette of Quality"" on both sides of this antique treasure. Condition is favorable, with a great look of period authenticity, and moderate wear. The wear is generally concentrated around the perimeter, though each side does have a spot of surface paint wear, including the partial loss of the letters "e, d" of the word "Piedmont" on one side. The spot of loss on the opposite side is located just below the flourish underscoring the word "Piedmont". A pre-punched hole is located on the top edge at center, to facilitate hanging of this attractive tobacco promoter.
