Lot # 1081: 1942 Herb Pennock Signed Check in Framed Display PSA NM 7

Hall of Fame hurler Herb Pennock makes a pitch for your attention, with this signed check in a 17" x 21" framed display. Pitching in the Majors from 1912-1934, Pennock had a knack for being in the right place at the right time, winning four championships with the New York Yankees, and one each with the Philadelphia Athletics and Boston Red Sox. His untimely demise in 1948 at the age of 53, makes him one of the hobby's tougher signature acquisitions. This fine example is a Sept. 17, 1942 endorsement, on a check encapsulated by PSA/DNA with a NM 7 autograph grade. While a few of the bank cancellation perforations contact the top of a couple of letters in Pennock's distinct signature, the impact is minimal. Joined with this prized check, are a Pennock pitching pose photograph, and a Perez-Steele postcard. At the time Pennock signed this National Bank and Trust Company of Kennett Square check, he was serving as Director of Minor League Operations for the Boston Red Sox.
