Description

An obscure professional football franchise returns to the light of day, with the presentation of this 1950 Baltimore Colts collection (5). Bless the devoted fans of Baltimore who continued showing up for games throughout the four-year run of this long-defunct team. Begat as the Miami Seahawks of the All-America Football Conference in 1946, this team was reclaimed, resold and renewed as the Baltimore Colts in 1947. The first football team to go by the name Baltimore Colts, this hapless franchise suffered three mostly horrendous seasons in the AAFC from 1947-1949, before being merged into the NFL in 1950. The Colts' 1950 season was their first, last and only campaign as a NFL team. After losing all seven of their preseason games, the Colts went 1-11 in 1950, and no one is quite sure how the Green Bay Packers managed to hand them their only win of the season. This poor showing saw this first Baltimore Colts franchise fold and wander off to the land of long-forgotten teams. Still, as gridiron historians know, gameday souvenirs from the AAFC are tough, tough, tough. Here's your shot at (5) nicely preserved items from the Colts one and only NFL season.

Highlights are:

1950 Season ticket booklet with (3) attached full tickets. Though the booklet and tickets have been hole-punched, they are otherwise very attractive in showing Ex-Mt details. The dates for the three tickets are 10/15 versus Philadelphia Eagles, 11/5 versus Green Bay Packers, and 12/3 versus Detroit Lions.

1950 Gunther Beer season ticket holder schedule. Regarded as extremely rare, this 5" diameter disc printed with a list of home games printed on the back, is a vibrant and attractive Vg-EX example.
