Description

The "Big Train" pulls into Auction Central, with this Walter Johnson signed 1937 ceremonial banquet dinner menu. Issued at a party in honor of Johnson's 50th birthday, this ancient souvenir emulates the 1907 scorecard from his MLB debut game with the Washington Sentors, on August 3, 1907. Johnson (HOF, d.1946) has signed over his pants on the front cover photograph, and he has included the salutation "Best Wishes". A boxed dedication printed on the interior states in part "This score-card menu is personally autographed by Walter for you as a souvenir of his 50th Birthday Testimonial Dinner, Ballroom, Mayflower Hotel, Saturday, November 6, 1937. Hope you like it.". While this vintage menu shows considerable wear, it remains reasonably attractive, with generally distinct graphics.
