Description

Cross an entire coin type off you want list, when you hammer down this 1946-1963 Franklin silver half dollar complete set (35). Housed in a blue Whitman folder, this set includes one example of each date-mintmark for the Franklin series. A presentation inscription from grandfather to grandson lining the margins of the folder is dated 1963, indicating these coins have been off the market since the year John F. Kennedy was assassinated. A gut punch to the American psyche, this horrible event led to a 1964 design change design for U.S. half dollar coins, with Kennedy replacing Franklin as the honored subject. Assembled more with love than an eye for condition quality, this set is nevertheless a respectable offering, with coins ranging from borderline Uncirculated down to Fine.
