Description

Relive the glory of the Baltimore Colts first championship era, with this game-used 1957-1958 number 18 road jersey. Located on the front-left tail are a McGregor size 46 factory label, a tattered tag with a blue number 1 only, and a laundry tag. The Colts won their first ever NFL championship in 1958, and two players wore #18 that season, backup quarterback Dick Horn, who played in five games without a start, and punter Avatus Stone, who executed exactly one 28-yard punt, explaining his extremely short stay in the NFL.  The only other player from the defined period to wear #18, was another backup QB, Cotton Davidson, who played in twelve games in 1957, with no starts. Based on the considerable degree of soiling/staining evident on the offered jersey, we’ll go out on a limb and eliminate the punter as the one to have worn this vintage gamer, leaving one of Johnny Unitas’ caddies as the wearer. All patches and accent stripes remain bold, and overall, this championship era jersey presents handsomely, with a great look of period authenticity.
