Die hard Baltimore Colts fans keep warm and keep the faith with this circa 1950s-1960s game-worn Colts sideline jacket. Labeled inside the collar with “Tailored for the Eddie Leonard Sporting Goods Co. Annapolis, Maryland” with an adjacent size 52 tag, this heavy wool garment certainly kept a team member warm and toasty for a good number of games. The elastic collar, sleeves and waistband have relinquished most of their tautness to long attrition. The snap buttons show considerable paint wear, and there are several small moth holes around the collar and other locations. Also noted are small stains and moderate soiling. Colts letter patches on the back remain complete and securely attached. All buttons fasten as intended, and black leather accents at the ends of the front pockets are intact. Given football is a Fall/Winter sport, the sun hasn't taken too much of a toll on the blue material, which reports as fairly vibrant. Typically. players wore capes, which readily fit over their shoulder pads. Though it’s likely this vintage jacket was worn by a coach, a Getty Images photograph of a player wearing a similar jacket was found, and a print of this photo is included for style matching. On a historic note, this jacket is consistent with the glorious era when the Colts won back-to-back championships in 1958 and 1959.
