Description

A blast from the "Windy City's" distant past blows in, with the offering of this 1900s Souvenir Folder of Chicago and Parks accordion postcard. This unused folder houses a strip of eleven double-sided panels featuring scenes from around Chicago. The highlights are panels of the National League Cubs West Side Park II, and the American League White Sox South Side Park. A charter member of the AL when the League was founded in 1901, the White Sox called South Side Park home from 1901-1909, before moving into Comiskey Park for the 1910 season. The "Senior Circuit" Cubs occupied West Side Park II from 1893-1915, and then took up residence in their current home, Wrigley Field. Other images of note are Grant Park, Lincoln Park, the Marshall Field and Company Building, and a scene of marching policemen. Decorating the front cover, is a woman playing tennis, while the back cover depicts a lake Michigan steamer and tugboat. Condition is Vg+, with a sturdy cover and a crisp foldout.
