Salute a pair of great American comic book heroes, with the winning of this 5/54 Atlas Comics Captain America Comics #76 issue, which features a proud Captain America and Bucky front cover. Cap was a big hit during the WWII era, but by the end of the 1940s, the super-hero genre went into a prolonged lull. Timely Comics rebranded as Atlas Comics and took a shot at reviving their famous super-heroes in 1954. Now billed as "Captain America, Commie Smasher", the Star-Spangled Avenger got a three-issue Atlas run during the "Cold War", and the offered issue is counted as the first of this revival attempt. Another historic note counts this issue as John Romita's first super-hero artwork. CGC has assigned this Golden Age classic a favorable grade of 3.0, Off-White Pages. Label notes are "John Romita, Bill Benulis and Jack Abel art, Carl Burgos cover and art. 1st Atlas issue. Human Torch and Toro story.".
