Description

Pete Rose was honored by his second home in 1985, when he was presented with this Philadelphia Sports Writers Association 1985 Outstanding Athletic Achievement Award. Sized at 13" x 20", this stately plaque is decorated with two brass plates. The upper plate depicts Rose in Cincinnati Reds and Philadelphia Phillies uniforms, with these images surrounding a representaion of Ty Cobb's Hall of Fame plaque and longstanding record career hit total of 4191. The lower plate declares "Pete Rose Major League Baseball's All Time Base Hit Champion", in honor of Rose breaking Cobb's record in 1985. The "Hit King" received this award on February 3, 1986 during the PSWA 82nd Annual Dinner, as noted on the lower plate. This vintage award presents handsomely, with bold graphics, and light wear.
