Description

Boxing buffs score a couple of blasts from the past, with the capture of these (2) PSA certified items from the September 24, 1953 Rocky Marciano versus Roland LaStarza II fight, that took place at the Polo Grounds. The only heavyweight champion to finish his career undefeated, Marciano took on many of boxing's best heavyweights during his 1947-1955 career, including LaStarza twice. Marciano won 43 of his 49 fights by knockout and was forced to go the distance just 6 times. In their first meeting, LaStarza came the closest to beating Marciano, battling to a 10-round split decision that went to the "Brockton Blockbuster", thanks to scoring the only knockdown of the bout. This was the only Marciano fight that ended in a split decision.

Here we have a pair of items from the 9/24/53 Marciano-LaStarza II heavyweight championship fight, which Marciano won by TKO in the 11th round.
