Ancient age boxing champion Bob Fitzsimmons struck an impressive pose for this 1899 Klein & Guttenstein cabinet card. At the time this photograph was taken, the Australian native was the reigning heavyweight and middleweight champion of the world. When Fitzsimmons claimed the heavyweight title from James J. Corbett in 1897, he weighed in at 167 pounds, making him the lightest heavyweight champion in history. This classic boxing pose cabinet card is numbered 16 at bottom-left, directly below the copyright date 1899. Printed on the bottom border is the legend "Robert Fitzsimmons, World's Champion Middle and Heavy Weight", followed by the photography studio's credit. SGC has encapsulated this card with an Authentic designation.
