Timely got into the superhero game in 1939, when this title was launched under the name "Marvel Comics". Beginning with the second issue, this title was rechristened "Marvel Mystery Comics". With this #8 issue, the fine folks at Timely upped their game by presenting the first round of a historic three-issue battle between the Sub-Mariner and the Human Torch, with the fate of New York City on the line.
