Description

Add an important Hall of Famer to your collection, when you bring home this Roberto Clemente signed baseball. The graceful Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder had long been a fan favorite around the Majors, when he made the ultimate sacrifice of losing his life during a relief mission to aid Nicaraguan earthquake victims on New Year's Eve 1972. Since his untimely demise, Clemente's legend has grown to epic proportions, and he ranks as one of the game's most beloved figures. Though this vintage ONL/Giles baseball bears multiple small gouges, it remains reasonably attractive. Clemente has signed on the west panel, and while there are considerable inks breaks in his signature, his distinctive penmanship is readily recognizable. Located on the ball's south panel is the signature of famous fictional pitchman Juan Valdez, who has included the inscription "The Coffee Man". Both signatures appear to have been applied with the same pen. The accompanying LOA states "The ball also bears the signature of "Juan Valdez the Coffee Man". While this could very well be his signature we have no exemplars to compare the signature against."
