A wizened Satchel Paige is seen in this signed 1969 Atlanta Braves team-issued photograph. At the age of sixty-two, Paige was in need of 158 days of MLB service time to qualify for a pension, and the Braves accommodated him in August 1968, by signing him as an advisor. Paige stayed with the Braves into the 1969 season as a coach, and he is pictured in a Braves uniform in the offered photograph. Paige has signed potently with the salutation "Best Wishes From" across the top of his pinstriped jersey. Arguably the greatest of the Negro League stars, Paige (d.1982) was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1971.
PSA/DNA has encapsulated this handsome photograph with a GEM MINT 10 Autograph Grade.
