A complete year of 52 issues of 1866 Harper's Weekly have been bound in a 12x17 leather album that’s almost 3-inches thick. Harper's Weekly was the “USA TODAY” of the Civil War era. It is where people got their news, politics, fashion, science and arts. It was sold throughout the nation. The engravings and lithographs in each issue were state-of-the-art. This bound volume includes full-page woodcut engravings of the Brooklyn and Philadelphia baseball teams. There are a few loose interior pages, but most are still solidly bound. Most of the pages retain some whiteness. The album itself is in Very Good condition with wear around the edges as it was obviously perused often. Harper's Weekly’s pages are often sold separately and there is tremendous break-up value in this 160-year-old tome.
