Lot # 1616: 1933 World Wide Gum V359 Montreal/R124 Boston Sea Raiders Cards (16) with Low Number Partial Set (14/24) & (2) High Numbers

The high seas beckon, with this 1933 World Wide Gum Sea Raiders card collection (16). This offering consists of a low number partial set (14/24), and (2) high number cards. Like its opportunistic seafaring subjects, this ancient issue is more than a bit tricky. Released as a pleasant diversion at the height of the Great Depression, these cards are printed on the reverse with "This is one of a series of 192 Sea Raiders Cards", however the American version totals 24 cards, with "Boston, Printed in U.S.A." on the back, while the Canadian version numbers 48 cards, printed with "Montreal" on the back. On top of that, the Montreal cards can be found with either "Printed in Canada", or "Printed in U.S.A.", in English only, and English/French bilingual versions.

Several varieties comprise the low number partial set, which ranges 50% GD to VG, 50% PR to FR, with:
