Description

Hall of Fame executive, Clark Griffith, has signed this letter on “Washington American League Base Ball Club” stationery, a dark (“9”) signature. Dated January 18th, 1944, it is addressed to outfielder George W. Case of Morrisville, Penna., thanking Case for congratulating him for becoming Major League Executive for 1943. Griffith went on to explain to Case that he can’t raise his salary as he expects a bad year for the Washington Nationals. They finished in 9th place that year with Case hitting .250.
