Lot # 1677: 1941 Novelty Press Blue Bot Vol. 2, #3 - CGC 1.5

Ding, ding, ding, the battle between Dick Cole and his Farr Military Academy rival Simba Karno goes into "Round 3", with this 8/41 Novelty Press Blue Bolt Vol.2, #3 issue. This schoolmate clash of boys raised to be physically superior began two issues early, and all three issues of the story arc are featured in this auction. In the end, Simba's better nature won out, and he and Dick became partners in combatting evil. This WWII era comic is CGC graded 1.5, Brittle Pages. Despite the low score, this ancient issue positions as a nice find, as CGC has only encapsulated four examples to date, indicating considerable scarcity, and the cover presents much better than the assigned grade. When it comes to comic books from this time period, the survival rate is small. Those in possession of the best examples, are rarely willing to part with them, so finding a book in any grade is a welcome opportunity for dedicated collectors. Label notes are "Paul Gustavson art".
