Lot # 1654: 1997 Walter Payton Boldy Signed Copley Newspapers Contract for Football Weekend

Addressed to Walter Payton, Hoffman Estates, this three-page contract dated July 23rd, 1997, with Copley Newspapers was an agreement for a weekly interview with the Hall of Famer to be used exclusively in their “Football Weekend” newspaper supplement. Widely regarded as one of the greatest football players of all time, Payton, who’s signatures are usually hard to read, has signed this contract with an unusually large ballpoint signature (“9”).
