Mets catcher Todd Hundley struggled early in his career but had a breakout year 1996 when he hit 41 home runs, setting the Mets single-season home run record and the single-season record for catchers, previously set by Roy Campanella in 1953.
Todd Hundley has signed a white, lightly toned. ONL/Coleman baseball with a signature (“8-9”) in strength and he has added the inscription, “41st HR - ML Record 9/14/96.”
Also included is a size 46 AIS jersey worn by the catcher that is signed (“8-9”) between his name and number on the back. AIS produced Mets game jerseys from 1995-1997. Without the Jackie Robinson patch, we can infer this is a 1995-1996 example. It has light use with no authentication for game-used attribution, but it comes from the estate/collection of Mike Cubbage, who played, coached and managed the Mets at various points of his 40+ years in baseball.
Auction LOA from James Spence/JSA for the signatures.
