Description

“The Game of Their Lives” by Dave Klein 1976 1st printing hardback book in Near Mint condition. The dust cover is still glossy. Comes with promotional four-page letter from Random House publisher promoting the critically acclaimed book about the 1958 meeting between the New York Giants and the Baltimore Colts in Yankee Stadium for the NFL Championship, often called “the greatest football game ever played.” The quarterback who led the Colts down the field at the end of the game, once in regulation, and then again in overtime, to win the game, the legendary Johnny Unitas, has signed the first blank page with the inscription “To Jim, Best wishes, Johnny Unitas.” A big, strong (“9-10”) signature.

 

8x10 black and white photo of beloved Baltimore announcer, Chuck Thompson. The photograph the Hall of Famer has the inscription, “Best Wishes John” then Chuck Thompson's (“8-9”) signature with another inscription, “H.O.F. “93”.” The photo has an attached JSA hologram and comes with Basic Cert from JSA/James Spence.

 

Also included are (2) hardback books signed by the author of both, John F. Steadman, Baltimore Sun sportswriter for seven decades. Both books are in Excellent condition with dust covers grading Good.

“The Baltimore Colts Story” 1958 first printing is signed on first blank page by Steadman with a personal inscription to actor Ron Menchine, who appeared in “All the President's Men.”

“Football's Miracle Men” first printing, 1959, signed by Steadman on the second blank page.
