A safe haven for investors, and bright shiny objects to the masses, gold coins are pure delight for collectors. Whatever camp you're in, this 1903 $20 Liberty Head Double Eagle is worthy of a long look. Graced with Lady Liberty in profile on the obverse and a proud heraldic eagle on the reverse, this well-struck gold coin retains impressive detail definition. Though uncirculated, a considerable number of contact marks on the obverse and several small spots of discoloration on the reverse force a grade of MS60. Composed of 90% gold and 10% copper, this coin has a weight of 33.4 grams. The original mintage was 287,270 pieces, and the estimated survival population is 50,250, with 22,750 examples believed to be uncirculated.
