Elmer Layden's storied career saw him play college football as one of the "Four Horsemen of Notre Dame". After that, he played as a "leatherhead" in the pros, coached several college teams, and served a five-year stint as NFL Commissioner, before turning to the business world. Track Layden's first season as head coach of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, with this 1934 near complete year run of (8/9) programs. The Irish faced the usual suspects of the period that year, including major rivals Army, Navy, and USC. The one program absent from this run, is the 11/17 Northwestern game.
