Newly appointed Notre Dame Fighting Irish head coach "Hunk" Anderson had some mighty big shoes to fill, after the revered Knute Rockne went down in a plane crash, in the Spring of 1931. Anderson held his own in 1931 and 1932, however 1933 was a sup-par season, that led to new career opportunities, including a WWII era stint as head coach of the NFL's Chicago Bears.
