One of five different Baltimore-based franchises to lay claim to a professional football championship, the 1985 Baltimore Stars captured the last-ever USFL crown and are fondly remembered in this lot of game-worn souvenirs and memorabilia. From the championship club’s lone season (1985) in Baltimore (well, College Park, anyway), highlights include: Jersey: issued to and/or worn by Ron Crosby; Helmet: a professional model game-worn “Riddell” accessory; Sideline Shirt: worn and signed by center Bart Oates. More on our website.

Ron Crosby 1985 Baltimore Stars Jersey: a red mesh pullover garment with “57” displayed on the front, back and sleeves in gold-on-white appliqué and “CROSBY” on a nameplate atop the back number in solid white block-style appliqué characters. A “Champion” size “XL” label resides on the left front tail. Crosby, a Penn State product, was issued this jersey following a five-year career in the NFL. Minimal wear is evident.

1985 Baltimore Stars Game-Used Helmet: a gold-colored plastic shell with “STARS” logo decals adhered to the sides and a “Riddell” snubber atop the four-bar face mask. The chinstrap remains intact, as do the padding cells and circular pad atop the crown’s interior. Jaw pads are intact, as well. A warning sticker and a size “7-18 – 7-3/4” sticker are adhered within the crown. Solid game use is evident with scuff marks about the shell’s exterior, some of which have resulted in separation on the decals. In the absence of name or numeric identifiers, it is impossible to attribute this professional model helmet to a specific player, though it clearly exhibits evidence of game use.

Bart Oates 1985 Baltimore Stars Signed Game-Worn Sideline Shirt: a red knit long-sleeve pullover garment with “STARS” arched across the chest in gold-on-white appliqué, while gold-and-white striped stretch ribbed knit lines the collar, waistline and sleeve endings. On the front, Oates has signed in black marker (“8” strength) and inscribed “50 – USFL Champs 1984-1985.” Within the collar, a “Champion” size “XXL” label has a vintage black marker notation of “50” and is accompanied by a flap tag denoting “2 longer length.” Light wear is evident. In addition to his USFL career that garnered two titles, Oates went on to an 11-year NFL career during which he earned five All-Pro selections and played for three Super Bowl champions.

Miscellaneous: team-issued or retail souvenirs are headlined by:

Jacket: a children’s size “S” nylon button-down garment with Baltimore Stars appliqué logos on the back and left breast. No wear is evident.
T-Shirt: a children’s size “M” white cotton pullover garment with an appliqué team logo on the front. No wear is evident.
Baseball Cap: a mesh/wool blend accessory with a red bill and a team logo sewn to the front center. The adjustable cap has “AJD” tagging and shows heavy wear with perspiration-induced soiling about the interior sweatband.
”Boxing” Puppet: a hand-held doll with (2) back levers to facilitate left and right punches.
1985 Team-Issued Presentation Football: a “Wilson” Official USFL display pigskin with two white panels on which a hand-painted legend dedicates the ball to former executive Richard Sammis.

Among the additional novelties are: a full-size 1985 Baltimore Stars pennant (presents nicely with crack-free appliqué); a grouping of (11) 1984-1985 Topps USFL Stars cards (all NM); (2) team-issued souvenir lapel pins; (2) drinking mugs; and (9) 1985 Baltimore Stars full tickets/stubs, including (7) issued at Byrd Stadium, (1) issued at Giants Stadium and (1) issued at the Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum
