Description

Come out punching, for this 1923 W580 boxing strip card uncut panel with (10) cards. Prizefighters of the 1880s-1920s are pictured in black and white on this antique panel, which measures 13-5/8" x 2-1/2". The cream of the crop is heavyweight champion Jack Johnson, who is positioned second from left. Also present are Ad Wolgast, "Young" Griffo, Mike O'Dowd, Frankie Genaro, Johnny Buff, Pal Moran, Joe Bernstein, "Kid" Williams, and "Young" Corbett. With the exception of Moran, these boxers were champions at some point in their careers. This panel remains crisp and fairly clean, with clearly recognizable images. There's a notch one the bottom edge, that breaks into the word "Middleweight" below the photograph of O'Dowd. The left edge is irregular with small chips, that do not affect the image area, and there's a price notation written in pencil on the back, behind the Wolgast card. otherwise, this panel is solid and attractive.
