In the 1950s and 1960s, the famous sporting goods manufacturer Spalding enlisted countless famous sports stars to promote their products and "assist in the design and development of Spalding products." The company produced numerous pieces of advertising, including cards and premiums, that promoted the brand and their famous associations. Offered here is an advertising poster showing off players from baseball, basketball, and hockey, highlighted by more than a dozen future Hall of Famers as well as several important stars of the time. Among them are Roger Maris, Yogi Berra, Don Drysdale, Whitey Ford, Carl Yastrzemski, Wilt Chamberlain, Jerry Lucas, Len Dawson, and Fran Tarkenton. The green-and-black poster, which measures 12.25 x 18.5 inches, is printed on thin stock with portraits of the players arranged throughout the poster. Originally designed to be folded in half, the poster bears a horizontal fold line down the center of the piece along with moderate wrinkling elsewhere due to its method of design and display. The reverse is blank. This is an ideal piece to frame and display, which would mitigate many of the unobtrusive flaws present and make for a stunning visual of important 1960s sports figures! The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
