Description

An ancient treasure surfaces with the presentation of this 1916 Brooklyn Robins World Series press pin. Now known as the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Robins faced the champion Boston Red Sox in this early Fall Classic. The high point of the Series came in Game 2, when a young Babe Ruth earned a 14-inning complete game win, in a dramatic pitcher's duel with the Robins' Sherry Smith. This scarce pin is spectacular, showing Ex-Mt+ condition quality, with bold colors and a radiant surface. The blue and white enamel around the rim is lettered with the legend "1916 World Series." At center is a raised baseball, impressed with "Brooklyn." The smoothly functioning fastening wheel on the back is engraved with "Dieges & Clust Makers" on the side facing out, while the opposite side is engraved with "Pat. Nov. 6, 1900, The Victory." This antique 1916 World Series press pin is rarely offered, and given its very satisfying condition, this one stands as a great prize for advanced collectors.
