Description

Crush your bidding competition, to claim this 1946 Orange Crush advertising sign. Sized at 27-1/2” x 19-1/2”, this rare tin tacker is an arresting presentation, designed to grab your attention. The colors remain impossibly vibrant, and the embossed graphics are off the charts in the appeal department. Seen at top-left, is a singing version of the Orange Crush brand’s mascot Crushy, with music notes emanating from his mouth. Lettered in yellow and white with blue depth outline, the sign’s slogan reads “Ask For A Crush Carbonated Beverage”. There’s also a legend across the bottom in white lettering against a blue background, that reads “Flavor Sealed In the Brown Bottle”, a reference to the brand's use of amber-colored bottles from 1937-1955, known to collectors as the "Krinkly" or "Beehive" type. Small white numbering at bottom-right reads “B-992-C” for plant location, and “11-1-46” for production date.

Six original factory-punched mounting holes are counted, with three across the top and three across the bottom. An extraneous hole and several small abrasions are concentrated around the letter A at top-right, and two more added holes are located just below the letter H of the word Crush, and to the left of Crushy’s cap. There are scratches on the letter R of Crush, and the raised frame around the perimeter shows light, sporadic paint wear. The described conditions are relatively minor detractions, and overall, this splendid tin advertising sign reports are fresh, clean and bright, with outstanding appeal.
