A major turning point for the NFL occurred when the Baltimore Colts met the New York Giants in the 1958 NFL Championship Game. Widely regarded as "The Greatest Game Ever Played," this main stage event was held on 12/28/58 at Yankee Stadium. Both teams went 9-3 on the season, and both battled hard to the finish, in the NFL's first sudden death overtime game. Played before 64,185 fans, this game was blacked-out in the greater New York area, however, 45 million viewers around the country tuned in on NBC. The thrilling overtime game, played before a national audience, gave the NFL a big boost in popularity, opening the door to the league's eventual rise to the top spot in the domestic sports scene. Celebrate this historic contest with the offered 1958 NFL Championship Game program that witnessed the 23-17 Colts triumph.
