Description

An important comic book debut is spotlighted, with the presentation of this 3/66 Marvel Comics Fantastic Four #48 issue. A breeding ground for new characters, the original Fantastic Four title introduced countless reader favorites. In this case, it's the Silver Surfer making his first appearance. Dreamed up by Jack "The King" Kirby, the Surfer was received skeptically prior to publication. As Stan Lee so eloquently put it, "There, in the middle of the story we had so carefully worked out, was a nut on some sort of flying surfboard". Lee got on board with the board rider, and the cosmically powered Silver Surfer soared to icon status. CGC has rated this famous Silver Age key issue comic 5.0, White Pages.
