Description

Head back to the ground floor for the San Francisco 49ers franchise, with this 1946 AAFC season home game program near-complete set (6/7). It was all firsts during this inaugural 49ers campaign. It was the first season of play for the short-lived AAFC, the first season of play for the 49ers, and their first season at Kezar Stadium, where these scarce gameday souvenirs were vended. Starting with the 49ers first ever regular season game on September 8, 1946, this set encompasses every home game for this historic season, except for the November 30th contest against the Chicago Rockets. Fronted with colorful, attention-grabbing illustrations, these vintage programs have been nicely preserved for eighty years, reporting in a satisfying condition range of Vg to Ex. Any and all souvenirs from the AAFC are fairly tough. Finding six programs in pleasing shape for the same team, from the same season, constitutes an epic find.

Featured games are: 9/8 versus New York Yankees, 9/15 versus Miami Seahawks, 9/22 versus Brooklyn Dodgers, 11/2 versus Buffalo Bisons, 11/10 versus league champions the Cleveland Browns with Paul Brown, Otto Graham and Marion Motley pictured inside, and 12/8 versus Los Angeles Dons.
