Description

A fiery cover fronts this 7/49 Timely Comics Captain America Comics #73 issue. Cap is seen in the drink, as he washes though an eerie torch-lit chamber on the front cover. This Golden Age comic book was the last to be published under the title Captain America Comics, as the next issue hit the newsstands with a title change to Captain America Weird Tales. At the time, the super-hero genre was in decline, and this format change was destined for just a couple of issues, though there would be a short-lived Captain America revival under the Atlas banner in 1954. This penultimate Timely Captain America Comics issue has been encapsulated by CGC with a .5, Cream to Off-White Pages rating. Label notes are "Ken Bald and Allen Bellman art. Golden Girl appearance. Next issue titled "Captain America Weird Tales.".
