Served up rare and sizzling, is this 3/41 Timely Comics Marvel Mystery Comics #17 issue. CGC has encapsulated this early Golden Age treasure with a grade of 1.5, Cream to Off-White Pages. Going by the number of contributing creators CGC has listed on the label header, it seems it took a village to put this issue together. A scorching cover by Alex Schomburg is promoted with a pointed word ballon, declaring "26 Smashing Pages of Human Torch and Sub-Mariner Fighting Side By Side!". The Torch is also featured in a full-page pin-up on the back cover. This prized issue is also noted for a full-page ad announcing the coming of Captain America Comics #1. Cited among the list of creators for this MMC issue, are Cap's creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. To date, CGC has graded only fifty-two examples of this red-hot issue in Universal Grade holders. Label notes are "Burgos, Everett, Thompson, Gustavson, Simon, Kirby and Dahlman stories and art, Gill story, Oksner art, Schomburg cover. Human Torch and Sub-Mariner team-up. Human Torch back cover pin-up. Full page ad for Captain America #1.".
