Description

A magnificent promotional piece surfaces, with the presentation of this Jack Johnson versus "Fireman Jim" Flynn silk. A bucolic scene depicts the combatants in peaceful pastel shades, contradicting the ensuing violence that saw Flynn disqualified for repeated head-butting. Depictions of flowers at the corners punctuate the printed text, which reads "Johnson-Flynn World's Championship Bout, Las Vegas, New Mexico July 4th, 1912". Light to moderate staining is evident on the background areas at top, right and bottom, with little effect on the tremendous appeal of this antique silk, which is handsomely framed to overall dimensions of 18" x 19".

The size/weight of this item requires that there will be an additional shipping charge for this lot.
